Why I support Superfood Nutritional Supplementation and Regular Nutritional Cleansing

Are you concerned with your health at all?

Chances are that if you're reading this blog, you probably are...

Whether you are looking to lose weight or you are a fitness and nutrition advocate like myself, it's encouraging to see that more and more people, these days are becoming interested in the Wellness industry...

When it comes to my own personal Energetic, Fit and Healthy Philosophy, I truly feel that having an emphasis on wellness and prevention is no longer a choice, it is a Must!

And as most people who know me can probably tell, staying Energetic Fit and Healthy is a HUGE part of my way of life!

I love how I feel when I workout regularly, eat clean, stay hydrated, get enough sleep, stay positive and motivated etc...  

While I'm definitely NOT perfect, I just know that I feel SO much better when I am consistent with these things...

And I am also a HUGE advocate of nutritional supplementation...


Here’s why:

"I can get everything I need from food." 
Not likely, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. 
As it turns out, supplementing is vital to one's health.
The scary thing about today's modern diet is that most of the population consumes foods that are filled with unnecessary, unhealthy and unsafe additives, hormones, pesticides, herbicides and preservatives. 

While it's true that eating clean and organic can help, there is more to worry about than just those dangerous chemicals and additives.  As a matter of fact, our topsoil, which is a fundamental component to growing nutritious foods, is nearly depleted of all its former nutrients. 

So, what does this mean for us? We are left with foods that are significantly lower in vitamins and minerals today than in years past. 

And as most of us know, vitamins and minerals are essential for supporting our health and bodily functions in every way;  without them the body is susceptible to disease and illness and the immune system is unable to protect the body the way it should.  

When the body is sick and medicines are used to address symptoms rather than the root cause, we are missing the point... the body isn't lacking medicine, it is lacking nutrition.  You are not deficient in tylenol when you get a headache...you are only addressing the symptoms...

This is one of the reasons I am so big on nutrition, eating clean and healthy and supplementing my body with high-quality, superfood nutritional supplements rather than first turning toward medication to feel better... 

(*please don't get me wrong here...I believe that medication can have its place especially with serious diseases in terms of getting to a place where a person can manage pain or function in their daily life, however in many cases, I believe our culture has become too medication-dependent, not first looking to nutrition to allow the body to be healthy and to heal and repair itself the way it was designed to do...)

We need Nutritional Supplementation and Nutritional Cleanses for the Body!
So, unfortunately, the fact remains that unless you live in a glass house and never step foot outside, we are continually exposed to toxins through our food, air and more...they are just everywhere!

But there are things we can do about this...

So first of all, we need to understand the Defense Mechanism that the Body has to protect our bodies from Toxins...
  • First the body must recognize the toxin (which does not always happen when the body is ill or suffering from various auto-immune disorders)
  • Then the body will either correctly get rid of the toxin or more commonly, surround the toxin with fat cells to protect vital organs from being poisoned~

Turn Your Brain Back On and Stop Mindless Eating

Mindless eating is ugly and what it does to your body is even worse.  We are
walking around with our brains turned off and grabbing whatever food items in our grazing path.  No rhyme or reason but doing an auto-pilot action of putting something in our face. You know the glazed over look watching TV and mowing through a whole bag of chips. How about the work break room crap we bring to our desks and continue back for more as we plug away at our computers. We're not hungry, not thinking but we're surely eating ... and it's not good.


What the heck is going on and why?  It's no wonder America is plagued with the highest obesity rate and enormous doctor bills for self-induced illness.  Mindless eating needs to stop and instead have enough self-respect to take care of our bodies.  Living to eat is not what life is all about but eating to live, and this does not include processed "fake" food.



Emotional eating can play a role in the whole mindless eating issue, and I would recommend getting to the bottom of what is going on internally.  There is no amount of tasty donuts or pizza fixing an emotional problem.  What it will do is add fat to your body and another reason to be stressed.  Seek out professional help, go to a counselor, see a minister or talk to a trusted friend.



Most of the time, mindless eating is done out of habit and convenience.  If it's there, put it in your face and so on.  We're the true "Walking Dead" existing in our zombie like state and feasting on gross things doing gross things to our body. It's time to turn your brain back on and break unhealthy habits.  

Start the process of mindful eating by doing food inventory.  Toss the junk food in the frig and pantry and replace it with healthy "real" food.   Get off your butt and start working out instead of sitting on it so much.  Stop blaming your spouse, significant other, friends or circumstances for mindless eating.  Just because someone in your home brings in crap food doesn't mean you have to eat it.  





We have choices and mindless eating is like being brain dead.  Wake the hell up and take responsibility for what you're doing.  Get your sh*t together and start thinking before eating.  Make a plan to eat healthy and stick to it.  Keep a food journal and be honest with yourself.  Turn your mindless into mindful eating and you will start down a path to a healthier you.  Straight talk but all in fitness love! How do You Know if your Products REALLY Work? How to Know if Your Wellness Products Are Safe, Healthy and Effective!

What should you be looking for to find the BEST products out there for your personal Health and Wellness?

Yah, they might have good marketing and hype.  People all over social media could be posting crazy claims about them but what do you really need to look for in order to find the BEST products for staying Energetic, Fit and Healthy?

The products from a True WELLNESS company should have ingredients that reflect that:
  • Safe
  • ALL-Natural
  • No Soy protein 
  • No Sucralose or artificial Sweeteners

Take a closer look at what you're putting in your body on a daily basis...
  • Are they cheap, synthetic vitamins from Walmart or GNC...

Be careful...just because the label says it's "healthy" doesn't necessarily mean that what you're taking is absorbable, natural and recognized by your body as food and good nutrition. 
What you want and need is bioavailable, natural, true wellness products with unique and beneficial ingredients that are high in antioxidants, vitamins, essential minerals with Clinically studied, scientific proven results!
Key Things to Look for in a Wellness Product Line:

3 of the BIGGEST things I can emphasize in terms of what we get asked about with regard to health and wellness products are:

  • Are they Clinically Proven?
  • Is the focus on short term diets or long term Health?



1-  No-Compromise Ingredients:  First of all it is vital to know that the Wellness company you are purchasing from has a No-Compromise policy and standards when creating their ingredients and products.

  • Are the Ingredients Safe?
  • Are the products in High Demand?

2-  Clinically Proven Results:  One of the absolute biggest measures of effectiveness that I can think of to prove that a system of products truly works is to have clinical research with 3rd party, double blind placebo studies.  

One of the reasons many companies won't do this with their products is that the studies are very expensive to do and when they do them the findings from the research are often published for anyone to see and read so if the results are not favorable it can be a risk.  

So when you find a company with published clinical research studies on the effectiveness of their products you can have added confidence that your products are safe, healthy and effective.

3-  It's about a Healthy Lifestyle Not a Quick Fix Diet:  One the the most important things is that you are learning to fuel your body properly and focus on being HEALTHY.  MOST diets simply focus on restricting calories or cutting carbs for a quick fix but what you really want is a program that focuses on fueling your body with the nutrition it craves so that it can function the way it was meant to.  Click this picture to learn more! 

Other things to Consider when Researching to Find the BEST Wellness Products:


  1. Are the Products Simple Enough to Incorporate into your Daily Life?   What you don't want are complicated products that require a new routine or schedule.  They should make sense in the way you already go about your normal lifestyle.
  2. Are You in LOVE with Them? Do you feel excited about the products?  When you find something you love and that is working well for you and those you love you will be more likely to continue to take them and therefore get a better result in the long run than if you are taking a product that you aren't excited about or having to force or remind yourself to take everyday!
Ultimately, what I've noticed in the Health and Wellness Industry is that if it works and is proven to be safe, effective and healthy, you still have to love it and see results or you probably won't continue...

And realistically, speaking, everyone's body is different.  Often what works well for some people may not provide the same results for another so the only way to know for sure if you are going to like something and get results is to give it a serious test.  What I've heard in the industry many times is that you need to give a nutritional supplement 4-6 months in order to see long-lasting results.

Because nutritional supplements are not a drug or medication and not intended to treat, cure or diagnose any disease.  They are simply food and nutrition that is giving your body what it needs to be healthy.  But because of that, results can take longer to see and feel.  For some people the results will be quicker than others but you need to give your body the time it needs to heal and repair itself.

Complaining? How's that Working for You...

We all complain from time to time and that's called life, but what about when it interferes with our fitness?  What good does it do to constantly complain, be unhappy and bring on a full "Debbie or Dave Downer" attitude without being willing to change the situation?  It's like a leaky faucet we watch drip all over the place, complain about it but refuse to fix the darn thing.  Too many people are complaining and not doing, and seriously, how's that working for you?

Complaints only go so far and then the radio gets turned off.  Who wants to continually listen to a self-bashing session when the outcome is always the same. Getting fit and maintaining a healthy body starts by stopping the complaints and getting to work on fixing the problem.  The extra fat on the gut or butt isn't going to disappear on it's own no matter how much complaining comes out of your mouth.   What will help is putting the negative energy (complaints) into positive action.

Start by ditching the complaints, accepting who you are right now and apply strategies to make you feel better about yourself.  Get serious about your fitness by keeping a food and exercise journal.  Use it to chart your feelings as well and if you have a complaint, write it in the journal and move on.  Stop dwelling on the "wah wah" and steer your attention toward eating healthier.  Instead of sitting on the couch downing beers after work, go for a walk for example.  You will be amazed how small changes will eventually provide big results.

Stop complaining about not having the time.  Really?  We are all busy and there is someone busier than you working out or prepping healthy food right now. What's in your pantry?  Is it filled with processed boxed foods and sugar cereal? What's going on in the refrigerator?  Is it filled with salami, beer and cheez whiz?  You get my point and I'm stressing to please clean-up the food because a large percentage of your fitness success is determined by what you put in your face consistently.  When is the last time you exercised?  Time to dust the fitness shoes off and get moving.  You will burn some extra calories and feel great for accomplishing a great workout.  Exercise is also linked to stress relief and increased self-esteem.  Be willing to do what it takes, stop complaining and you know that old saying "sh*t or get off the pot" well it truly applies here.  Straight talk but all in fitness love.  Be well and Stay Healthy!

Shake it Up on Shake Day: Top 10 Protein Shake Recipes to Keep You Energetic, Fit and Healthy on Shake Day!!

Oh my IsaLean Protein shake, how do I love thee! ;)

But sometimes I need a little variety to shake things up, am I right?

TOP 10 Protein Shake Recipes for Shake Day:

1-  Choco-Malt Protein Shake:


Ingredients:
Blend until smooth and enjoy!


2-  Strawberry Cheesecake Protein shake:

Umm, Cheesecake!!  'Nuff said! ;-)
  • 1/3 cup strawberry fat free greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup (about 2 large) frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup fat free cottage cheese
  • 2 scoops Vanilla IsaLean
  • 2 T fat free sour cream
  • 1/2 cup water
  • ice cubes
  • blend and enjoy :-)



3-  Chai-Latte Frappuccino Protein Shake:


Ingredients:





4-  Key Lime Protein Shake:

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 avocado
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 2 teaspoons lime zest
  • 1 scoop Vanilla IsaLean
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or use 1 cup coconut milk and no need for the extra coconut...or keep it in and make it extra tropical/coconutty  )
  • Ice
  • optional: a bit of stevia to sweeten a little
  • Blend!  So good! :-D


5-  Black Forrest Cherry Chocolate Protein Shake:


Ingredients:





6-  Carrot Cake Protein Shake:

Ingredients-
  • 1/4 cup pureed carrot (or organic baby carrots- baby food ones work great!)
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 Scoop Vanilla IsaLean
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • Cinnamon, Ginger and nutmeg to taste (~1/4 tsp each)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Flax or Chia and Stevia to sweeten
  • Blend!


7- Shamrock Peppermint Patty Shake:

Ingredients: 




8-  Cinnamon Roll Protein Shake:

Oooh!  Doesn't THAT sound good! ;-)
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 scoop Vanilla IsaLean
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  •  1 tsp Butter Extract
  •  1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  •  Ice
  •  Stevia to taste
  • Blend and enjoy!

9-  The P-Nutty Monkey:

A nutty, chunk-monkey kind of shake!

10-  Coconut Dream Protein shake:

Ingredients-
Directions:
  1. Crack the non-chilled coconut and scrape the meat out of it with a large spoon
  2. Open the chilled coconut and drain the juice out of it with a sieve
  3. Add 4 ounces of the juice or water if preferred, half of the coconut meat and the IsaLean Shake mix to your IsaBlender and blend for 1-2 minutes until creamy
  4. Place the contents in coconut shell for a beautiful and tasty-looking shake
**BONUS Protein Shake Recipe you HAVE to try!! ;)

Brownie Batter Protein Shake:

Ok, so this one really surprised me with the strange combination of ingredients but somehow, all together it actually DOES taste like Brownie Batter...so bear with me... 

Ingredients:

1/2 cup pumpkin puree (pumpkin!? yep...it works!)
1/4 cup raisins (I know...weird but mixed with the chocolate it Works! lol)
1 Tbs Cocoa/Cacao powder
1 scoop Chocolate IsaLean protein powder
1/4 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
stevia to taste
1/8 tsp xanthum gum...optional but helps to thicken and give that great smooth, thick texture 
ice

Blend and enjoy!! (Somehow the raisins mixed with the chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder gives the impression of chocolate chunks...the pumpkin blends in to thicken and give that 'batter' texture!)
